Overview
The ECDE UJI Programme, spearheaded by the Murang'a County Government, is a vital initiative designed to support the health, growth, and academic success of Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) learners. Recognizing that proper nutrition is essential for a child’s physical and cognitive development, the program provides free, nutritious porridge to young learners across all ECDE centers in the county. This ensures that no child starts their day on an empty stomach, promoting better concentration, energy levels, and engagement in classroom activities. By alleviating hunger, the program fosters an environment where children can focus on learning without the distraction of hunger pangs.

42,000 Children in 700 ECDE Centers take UJI(Porridge).

Beyond the immediate nutritional benefits, the ECDE UJI Programme reflects the county government's commitment to investing in the future of its young population. It acknowledges that early childhood education is a critical stage in shaping a child’s lifelong learning journey. The program also provides relief to parents, especially those from vulnerable households, by easing the burden of ensuring their children have a healthy meal during school hours. Ultimately, this initiative not only supports individual learners but also contributes to the county's broader vision of nurturing an educated, empowered, and healthy community for generations to come.
