Overview
The Murang'a County Government has implemented a comprehensive BodaBoda Programme aimed at enhancing the safety, professionalism, and economic prospects of motorcycle taxi operators within the county. Recognizing the pivotal role that boda boda riders play in local transportation and the associated risks, the program focuses on providing free training and facilitating the acquisition of smart driving licenses. In its initial phase, over 450 riders underwent extensive training on road safety regulations and successfully completed the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) driving tests, culminating in the issuance of smart driving licenses.

The program aims to enhance road safety and improve the professionalism of boda boda riders by providing free training and facilitating the acquisition of smart driving licenses.
In its initial phase, over 450 riders were trained and issued smart driving licenses. The program continues to support more riders annually.
Riders gain comprehensive knowledge of road safety rules, obtain smart driving licenses, and improve their eligibility for services like insurance, thereby enhancing their professionalism and economic opportunities.
By promoting safer riding practices and ensuring that boda boda operators are properly licensed, the program aims to reduce road accidents, leading to a safer transportation environment for all residents.
This initiative not only elevates the standards of road safety but also empowers riders by enhancing their credibility and access to essential services such as insurance. The county's commitment to this cause is further demonstrated by the annual sponsorship of driving license registrations for boda boda operators, with the second cohort recently completing their registration at the Murang'a Huduma Centre. By investing in the professional development of these riders, the Murang'a County Government aims to foster a safer transportation environment and bolster the economic well-being of its residents.
