Training for Maize Farmers
H.E Dr. Irungu Kang’ata & Murang’a County officials organized a training for maize farmers from all parts of the County in conjunction with Joy Miller’s Limited who are set to provide a market for their maize produce.
This is in line with the Memorandum of Understanding that was signed between the County Government and Joy Miller’s Limited (Kavagara) earlier this month to commercialize maize farming.
The training focused on educating farmers on management of pests and diseases , harvesting, sorting, grading , drying and storage of maize to ensure quality produce.
The Governor emphasized on the need for farmers to form and join a grains Cooperative so as to strengthen their bargaining power in the market.This is as the County aims to continue boosting farmers through value addition to their farm produce.
