Muranga County Telemedicine Services

With all 160 health facilities in Muranga County now fully automated, patient care has become more efficient and accessible. A major highlight is the County Government’s infrastructure to pilot telemedicine in 44 facilities. This innovative service will allow patients to receive treatment from the comfort of their homes. Training for medical workers is ongoing, and soon, the public will also be educated on telemedicine and other technologies to maximize the benefits of these advancements.
Telemedicine is Medical Consultation, Diagnosis and Treatment of Patients by Doctors and Medical Health Experts from anywhere in the World using computerized Digital Communication and Telecommunication Technologies.
The Aim of this Telemedicine Program is to Decentralize Health Services and Decongest major Hospitals in Murang’a by ensuring that the People of Murang’a can get any Medical Service from their Homes or their nearest Dispensary or Health Center. This will save them Money and Time used in traveling to major Hospitals for major Health Concerns, Consultation and Treatment.
Training of Doctors and Health Workers in Murang’a is is ongoing in Preparation for this Pilot and eventual Rollout of Telemedicine in Murang’a County. The People of Murang’a will also be informed on how to get, enjoy and fully benefit from Telemedicine Services.
The conference showcased cutting-edge medical technologies, including drones for medical deliveries, mobile apps for e-consultation, e-theater, and dialysis machines. Donors also gave 200 glucometers and 50 digital tablets to support our telemedicine efforts.
The County Government will from September 2, 2024, officially Pilot Telemedicine Services in some 44 Select Hospitals in Murang’a for Six Months in partnership with Health X and Byon 8.
The county is also making strides in installing solar energy in our health facilities to ensure uninterrupted services during power outages.
These initiatives are a big step toward decentralizing medical services and embracing the future of digital health.
