Murang’a County Recruits the 5th Cohort of Murang’a Youth Service(MYS)

Murang’a County Government through the department of Youths and sports recruited the 5th cohort of youths in all its 35 wards, under the Murang’a Youth Service (MYS)programme.

This Programme enrolls unemployed youths and engages them in Community service for 2 months.These Youths then proceed for 3 months Vocational training in short courses of their choice which is fully paid for by the County Government.

Once they graduate, they are given Ksh 15,000 as seed Capital to start a business and 1 year tax exemption certificate to allow their businesses to grow.

So far, the MYS programme has recruited 5,250 youths.Two cohorts (1,500) youths have successfully graduated and proceeded to implement their skills in various business sectors.

Through MYS, the County Government aims to empower the Youth with skills that will lead to self employment and curb the rate of unemployment in the County.
