COUNTY MATERNAL SUPPORT PROGRAM
Murang’a County Government has completed an Exercise of disbursing Maternal Support Funds to 4104 nursing Mothers across Murang’a, under the County Maternal Support Program who did not receive their dues when the Program was paused earlier this Year.
This Program was launched in 2023 to incentivize Pregnant Women to attend Ante-natal Clinics in a bid to reduce and end Maternal and Infant Mortality.
After an Audit of the Program, the County Government of #Muranga resolved to Pay the Verified but Unpaid Mothers between 5th to 10th August 2024. Ksh.1,900 for those Mothers without NHIF/Healthcare Insurance to cater for both Maternal Support and NHIF-SHIF as from October 2024 and Ksh.1,500 for those with NHIF/ Healthcare Insurance. 3622 Mothers without Medical Insurance will get 3 Months of paid SHIF Medical Cover starting on October 1st, 2024.
Teen Mothers received a Mama’s Kit loaded with 5 Baby Gifts; Thermometer, Diapers, Baby Shawl, Baby bathing Soap and Jelly, a Bag, Mother and Child Nutritional Education during this Exercise.
NOTE: Going forward, Mothers will receive Maternal Support Once annually on June, the Next disbursement will hence be on May 2025.
To qualify for this Program, Pregnant Women Must attend at least 6 Ante-natal Clinic Visits within the 1st and 3rd Trimester of Pregnancy.
