The Government of Murang'a County

Renal Unit

Today marked a tremendous step in improving the healthcare service not only for the residents of Murang'a County but also in the neighboring Counties as Governor Mwangi Wa Iria joined the people of Murang'a in commissioning the RENAL UNIT in Murang'a Referral Hospital.

The Renal Unit has Eight Ultra Modern Machines for various Renal healthcare services such as Screening, Testing, Analysis and Dialysis. The unit will be managed by a team of eleven medics and will offer services to a minimum of eight patients per day. This facility makes it easier and more convenient for patients with renal conditions to get medical attention without traveling far to KHN as they used to earlier; my government will also ensure that the patients get treatment at a reasonable rate and one that is lower compared with the charges at KNH

Plans are underway to expand the facility and even ease congestion and precisely after the installation of additional five machines courtesy of the National Government.Capacity evaluation and expansion will be done regularly to deliver effective and efficient services. The Governor urged those constituents with various Renal related conditions to come forth for screening and treatment.

Governor Wa Iria reiterated that provision of super quality healthcare to the people of Murang'a remains a priority in his agenda as the Renal Unit complements the healthcare package that has seen the County Government purchase eight ambulances which offer services to the patients at no cost.

The Governor will soon launch a ultra modern model EYE and DENTAL UNIT at Kenol. The facility will be named 'KEN MATIBA EYE AND DENTAL UNIT' as a way of honoring one of the greatest heroes from Murang'a County who pioneered second liberation from which the fruits of devolution are being reaped. The facility will offer highly specialized optical and dental healthcare. We are also expanding the health facilities in Sub Counties to provide services on a proximate cause unless for the referral cases which will be handled at the Murang'a Referal Hospital.

Murang'a County Government has also factored in the construction of an eight storey complex at the Murang'a Referal Hospital to boost our service capacity for the current financial year. The Governor asserted that his Government is keen towards legislating on a County insurance Scheme to factor in constituents from vulnerable and financially challenged background.

The Governor also extended his regards on behalf of the people of Murang'a to the Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) for their partnership through a donation of two machines for the RENAL UNIT.
