ADVERTISEMENT OF VACANCIES

The Murang’a County Public Service Board wishes to recruit competent and qualified persons to fill the following positions:

$11.       CHIEF OFFICER –TWELVE (12) POSTS- REF. NO. MCG/PSB/2017/003

The twelve (12) posts will be as follows: (Applicants should specify the portfolio for which they wish to head)

  1. Health Services
  2. Agriculture and Livestock Development
  3. Supply Chain and Projects Management
  4. Youth and Technical Training
  5. Cooperative Development
  6. Local Trade Development
  7. Exports Development
  8. Water and Irrigation
  9. Finance and Economic Planning
  10. Lands and Physical Planning
  11. Roads and Public Works
  12. Electrification

Duties and Responsibilities

The Chief Officer shall be the accounting and authorized officer in respect of exercise of delegated power and shall be responsible to the respective County Executive Committee Member.

  1. The administration of a County department;
  2. Implementation of policies and programmes;
  3. Development and implementation of strategic plans and sector development plans;
  4. Providing strategic policy direction for effective service delivery;
  5. Planning and implementation effective programmes to attain vision 2030, sector goals and SDGs;
  6. Ensuring compliance with national values and principles of good governance as outlined in Article 10 and 232 of the Constitution of Kenya;
  7. Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the appointing authority.

Requirements for appointment

Be a Kenyan citizen

  1. Be in possession of a Bachelor degree from a recognized University in Kenya;
  2. Possession of a master’s degree in a related field will be an added advantage;
  3. Have a vast knowledge and experience in the related field,
  4. Be conversant with the Constitution of Kenya and all the devolution laws;
  5. Demonstrate thorough understanding of County development objectives and vision 2030
  6. Be a strategic thinker and result oriented;
  7. Have excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills;
  8. Have capacity to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines;
  9. Demonstrate understanding and commitment to the values and principles espoused in Article 10 and 232 of the Constitution of Kenya;
  10. Have a working experience and knowledge of using computers;
  11. Satisfy the requirements of chapter six of the constitution of Kenya 2010.

Terms of service: Contract

Salary: As Prescribed by Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC)

$12.       REGISTERED NURSE III- JOB GROUP ‘H’ –427 POSTS- REF. NO. MCG/PSB/2017/005

This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

$1a)       Assessing, planning, implementing nursing interventions and evaluating patient`s outcomes.

$1b)       Providing appropriate health care services

$1c)       Providing health education and counselling to patients/ clients and community on identified health needs.

$1d)       Referring patients/clients appropriately.

$1e)       Facilitating patients` admission and initiating discharge plans.

$1f)        Maintaining records on Patients/clients health condition and care.

$1g)       Ensuring a safe and tidy clinical environment.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-

$1a)       Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Kenya Registered Nursing, Kenya Registered Midwifery, Kenya Registered Nursing/Midwifery or Kenya Registered Nursing/Mental Health and Psychiatry from a recognised institution.

$1b)       Registration certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya.

$1c)       Valid practicing license from Nursing Council of Kenya.
