Wheelchair Program Launch

Murang’a County Deputy Governor Maina Kamau on 10th July 2018 officially presented 300 specialized wheel chairs to Murang’a County residents living with disabilities . The Church of Jesus Christ for the latter day saints (LDS Humanitarian Services) donated the wheel chairs and trained 12 technicians and 12 doctors. Murang’a County Government in collaboration with motivation charitable Africa are set to issue the wheel chairs according to World Health Organization (WHO) standards. The CEC – Education, Youth, sports and social services accompanied by the CEC – Health Joseph Mbai were in attendance. They asked people with living with disabilities to register at Sub county Hospitals for assessment so as to receive the next bunch of wheel chairs in two months’ time. Statistics from the World Health Organization indicate that 1 in every 100 people are in need of assistive devices. With a population of approximately 1 million people, Murang’a county therefore requires around 10, 000 assistive devices for people living with disabilities.
